So, I’m finally starting one of my pet projects, about 1 month late.  One of the things I’ve planned on doing is making a photo album from our wedding for a few of our family members as a gift.  Part of our photo package was receiving a CD with all of the images.  I’ve had this for, oh, maybe 3 months now, and still haven’t started the dirty work.

Part of the problem is that I don’t own photoshop – it cost like $600 for the newest version.  And while I’d love to lay down the cash for it, it doesn’t seem reasonable unless I’m actually planning to do photography as a job so I can make back that $600 bucks.  So, I’ve been forced to get the photoshop trial for 30 days, which means all my efforts have a definite time line.

In the process, I’ve become rather addicted to photoshop and editing photos and using actions – it’s so much fun!!  And you can do some really wild and crazy things if you want to, and it’s very easy to go overboard and make pictures look over processed or too Barbi-doll like.  But I’m learning, and I’m having a blast.

Hopefully some day I can actually own PS and go to town on our honeymoon pics too and put together a book for that – wouldn’t that be fun?  I just figure with the digital age and the cost of printing pictures vs. the cost of putting together a photobook (which is just way more fun anyways) I might as well have at it :-)

Keep your eyes pealed for a sample of one of my pages.  I loosely stole some of the idea from my own wedding album created by my photographer, but I’ve changed a few things.  You’ll see it later on today when I get it finished.

Album Spread

Here it is my first album spread!  Pretty, isn’t it? :-)

I’ve changed themes again.  It wasn’t that I didn’t like the old one, I just like this one better.  It feels a bit “lighter” and easier on the eyes.  Eventually I will change the header picture, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Bridal portrait

We just received our CD of wedding photos in the mail yesterday!  Yippee!  My conclusion from a few photos is that I should be a model :-)  Actually, I think our photographer was just really wonderful.  She took some amazing pictures.  I’m a little bummed that a few moments were missed, especially a really sweet an emotional hug with my roommate Cindy during the reception – our photographer was probably eating.  But all in all, coming from another artist and photographer, I was impressed.  Now comes the fun part of choosing pics for our album!  Eventually I’ll maybe post a few more favorites on here….and if you’re a friend that would like a “copy”, just send me an email!

That’s the reason for my LONG absence.  We got married – YAY!!! I love it so far.  The honeymoon was great – pictures to come soon, I just keep forgetting to download them.  Moving was not so much fun – we’re still unloading boxes and figuring out where everything should go.  Plus trying to get work done too.  Fun fun!

Eventually I’ll change the name of this…..be on the lookout for an update!
